Evaluation of analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of ethanolic extract of Cordia sebestena L.

Trees and shrubs of the genus Cordia are widely distributed in the warmer regions, including Indonesia. The aim of this study
was to evaluate the analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties of the ethanolic extract of plant leaves in Wistar albino rats.
The analgesic activity was evaluated using the hot plate method and acetic acid-induced writhing, and the anti-inflammatory
activity was determined using carrageenan-induced paw oedema. The results showed that the Cordia sebestena ethanol extract
(100, 200 and 400 mg/kg) exhibited significant analgesic effects in a dose-dependent manner in the two pain models tested. The
extract also exhibited significant anti-inflammatory effects in the carrageenan-induced inflammation test. The data obtained
support the traditional folklore therapeutic claim about its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Nonetheless, further
scientific investigation is required to establish its analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties in other experimental models and
clinical settings.

Screening Of Antibacterial Activity And Molecular Identification Of Lactic Acid Bacteria From Cabbage Fermentation On Bacillus Cereus Pathogenic Bacteria

Lactic Acid Bacteria (BAL) are often found naturally in food ingredients such as
vegetables and fruits. Cabbage fermentation is one of the best sources of Lactic Acid Bacteria
which contain antibacterial compounds such as bacteriocin, hydrogen peroxide, and organic
acids. This study purpose are to isolate BAL, screen the antibacterial activity, and identification
of molecular of selected isolates. This study was initiated with Lactic Acid Bacteria isolation from
cabbage fermentation, followed by screening for antibacterial activity by disc diffussion method
and identification of molecular isolates which having the highest antibacterial activity by PCR
method. After isolation, 6 isolates were obtained: K31, K32, K33, K34, K35 and K36. The result
of antibacterial activity test showed that K32 isolate had the highest activity against bacterium of
Bacillus cereus. Molecular identification with PCR method and sequencing of amplification
results showed that K32 isolates having 99% similarity level to lactobacillus buchneri JCM 115
strain. From the results of the study it can be concluded that cabbage fermentation contains
Lactic Acid Bacteria which have antibacterial activity against Bacillus cereus.

Nationalism Study Of Primary Students In The Border Area Of West Kalimantan-Indonesia And Malaysia

The sense of nationalism of Primary Education students (SD and SMP) in the border area between West Kalimantan and Malaysia needs to be maintained and upheld because the border area is the spearhead of the realization of the unity, harmony and resilience of a nation. The objective of this study is to determine the sense of nationalism of primary education students in the border area between West Kalimantan and Malaysia. The data of this study are taken from students, teachers, and principals of primary education in Sajingan Besar sub district of Sambas Regency, Jagoi Babang sub-district of Bengkayan Regency, and Entikong subdistrict of Sanggau Regency. The method used in this study is quantitative and qualitative methods. Data are obtained through instruments that have 4 grids and 12 questions developed from the grids. Whereas the instruments used is Likert Scale. Secondary data is obtained through interviews with students, teachers, and principals. The outcome of this
study implies that there is no relationship between nationalism and the development of infrastructure. In fact, nationalism depends on the program and creativity of principals and teachers.

Incorporating a Smartphone Video in a Theatrical Activity to Promote an Authentic Language Learning Environment in a Lower Secondary School Classroom

Theatrical activities have been used to promote an authentic learning environment. However, the incorporation of simple daily technology, like smartphones, to enable students to produce a video of their theatrical activities has not been explored in the Indonesian language learning classroom. This paper documents a video project conducted by lower secondary school students at a private school in Jakarta, Indonesia to examine whether a video project task could help create an authentic learning environment in a language classroom setting. Although the benefits of theatrical activities to promote authenticity in students’ learning experiences are evident in the literature, only a few students have access to such benefits. Many students were reluctant to get involved in the theatrical activities prepared by the teachers and only one cohort of students successfully completed the advertisement video assignment. Teachers’ instructional issues as well as students’ motivation and commitment to work collaboratively were identified as the barriers to produce the video.

Success of Management by Objectives (MBO) Extracurricular Programs Based on Participation of School Committees

This study aims to identify the importance of implementing Management by
Objective (MBO) school extracurricular programs based on the participation of school
committees in channeling students’ talents and interests by acting right brain functions
and developing students’ creativity, as well as developing students’ psychomotor
domains. This study uses framing analysis and analysis of the MBO method, namely
SMART. The result of framing analysis is that MBO will succeed, if there is a
collaboration arrangement between the school and the school committee based on the
school’s vision, mission, indicators and objectives, as well as the motto of Jakarta 68
High School is Discipline, creation and achievement. SMART’s analysis results are
the implementation of extracurricular programs at State Senior High School 68
achieving positive results in developing students’ creativity by using psychomotor
aspects and the role of school committees based on five dimensions is specific,
measurable, acceptable, reality, and time bond.

Does Banking in Indonesia tend to be Concentrated?

The banking in Indonesia has undergone several changes in the market structure that
ultimately impacts the prevailing policies and regulations. This study aims to
examine the impact of changes in the banking market structure identified through
the level of market concentration in the banking environment and examine the
factors that influence the level of concentration of the banking market from 2005 to
2016. The study also examined the impact of changes in banking structure during
the global crisis. The measurement of banking concentration used in this study is the
Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI). Furthermore, the influential factors consist of:
(1) Bank specification, including bank size (Size), credit risk (NPL), profitability
(ROE), banksoundness(CAR),(2)Market specification, namely the number of
standingbank (NUM), and (3) Global crisis. The study used GLS (Generalized
Least Square) method to detect autocorrelation on each variable. The results show
that banks in Indonesia tended to have a low level of market concentration. The
results are also in accordance with the SCP paradigm which states that banks tend to
generate high profits when the level of banking market concentration is high
